I can only concur! The MK2 is worlds apart from the MK5 in terms of refinement and driveability. You have to 'drive' the MK2 where as the MK5 is all about assistance!
I do enjoy the thought of driving both, which is why given the choice I would never be parted from either! 
I agree as well, while I didn't keep my MK2 on the road for long before I starting pulling it apart the couple of hundred miles I did in it I really enjoyed, but in a totaly different way to my MK5 ED30.
I definatly wouldn't want to be without ever of them now and can't wait to get the MK2 back on the road.
