a thread for you MK5 and MK2 owners

Well since owning the Mk5 since Saturday, the Mk2 hasn’t had a look in. So i took the mk2 to work this morning and expecting to get in it and think that it felt old etc. but how wrong could i have been the Mk2 just feels so much more raw and makes to realise for its age what a fantastic car it actually is. The only thing i will say are that the brakes are well... scary compared to driving the mk5 all weekend

Anyone else feel free to share your view.

I can only concur! The MK2 is worlds apart from the MK5 in terms of refinement and driveability. You have to 'drive' the MK2 where as the MK5 is all about assistance!

I do enjoy the thought of driving both, which is why given the choice I would never be parted from either!

i couldnt agree more the mk2 esp the 16v you have to use the box more and use the rev's as it only comes into its own higher up in the rev range.
dont get me wrong the mk5 is a fantastic car and will be staying with me a long time. i was just amazed at how much of a drivers car the mk2 really is.

It's old, it's creaky, long journeys cause back pain and maintenance is a nightmare. But that is all forgotten when flicking the tiny momo race wheel to cause a powerslide around an island with the supercharger screaming. I know I need to sell it but I don't want to

I agree as well, while I didn't keep my MK2 on the road for long before I starting pulling it apart the couple of hundred miles I did in it I really enjoyed, but in a totaly different way to my MK5 ED30.

I definatly wouldn't want to be without ever of them now and can't wait to get the MK2 back on the road.
