navigation v3 ?
« on: 29 September 2008, 15:29 »
The navigation is giving me a headache. I need some HELP !

Right guys i've put the v3 DVD into the cars nav.

Its asked me to save the dvd to the Harddrive or use the dvd temporarily. I saved it to the harddrive.

Now when i want to type in an address to navigate to, I can only put in 4 digits of the postcode, is that normal ?

Ie if i want to put in LE1 5FG,  it only allows me to put in  LE1 5, then it tells me to select that one option, then from there select the street/house number etc.

Is there no way of putting the full post code in ?

Laslty how do i know that the v3 was installed onto the Harddrive, it looks the bloomin same as V2 to me ?

Also whenever i have an address planned and want to use the media screen, the map screen goes away, even when i press Nav, the map showing the directions goes away.

Am i supposed to use the map button to bring back up my map/direction highlights ?

Cheers guys in advance for your help !!

Raj

Hi Raj,

The postcode entry stuff is correct for V3.

I will dig out the details of exactly how to check the map version for you, but basically you need to reboot the navi (the with < + > + i buttons at the top of the unit and then then hold down the setup button once the VW screen appears) to access the hidden menu. I believe it's something like version 6020 for the v3 disk.

HTH

Very good point, after I have updated mine with the v3 + speed camera stuff that doesn't work properly until it's had a reboot.

Cheers Steve and Shaun !

Now by reboot do you mean switch it on and off ? ?

I put the disc back in and nothing comes up, it does not even load to any screen ?

How do i find the hidden menu guys , once again, thanks chaps :) !

Its not the best system to use, but it does look better than the radio unit or an after market one !

to check map version iirc you need to enter the car, put key in ignition till nav screen starts coming on (vw logo), then press and hold set up for 15 seconds, or untill the full set up men screen comes up, then from there you can check the map version, think v3 should be 6317 and was 6061

rebooting isnt just turning off, it involves holding down the buttons as steve wrote ( < + > + i )

Also if the car has been used recently (within the last couple of hours) or you miss the VW screen when you put the key in you will need to reboot to get it to show the VW screen to press the setup button to access the hinden menu. Hope that makes sense.
