Had a call from the VW correspondence centre today confirming receipt of the letter today and to advise the following: -

1 – The Plaques are in Milton Keynes (arrived this week) they will have a distribution timescale for these towards the start of next week. However they are being produced in batches so not all owners will get them at the same time. I have asked for specific details on this.

2 – The plaques are designed to be fitted to the interior of the car and will be numbered. Again I have asked for specifics on this.

3 – They will be checking all the registration numbers provided and have already found some of the owners details aren’t correctly recorded on VW systems. I have asked for the list to be sent to me so I can inform the relevant people as without this you will not receive a plaque.

It’s the standard response I expected so will give them a few days to come back on these points before starting to follow this up and escalating the issues if we not get a satisfactory response from them.

You know what'd really pee me off?

If after all this, the plaques turn out and they're crappy bits of metal/plastic poorly crafted and wonky numbering!

Whilst I was a TT owner there was a lot of TT's developing faulty dashpods, owners were getting nowhere with Audi, with replacements costing anything up to £800, this went on for quite a while until BBC's Watchdog got on the case then suddenly Audi started replacing faulty ones up to four years old free of charge!!!! and refunding those who had shelled out of their own pocket.Amazing what a bit of bad publicity can do.

....and with the credit crunch, downturn in the economy and VW bringing out the MKVI - the last thing they would want is bad press :wink:
