We have received confirmation that the Golf Edition 30 plaques have been received by our Head Office at Milton Keynes.
 
The registered owners details have been passed to Head Office and the plaques will be sent out as soon as possible.

Well I'm going to remain positive and hopefully its just a case of VW Head Office dealing with it and sending direct and hence have not informed the dealers.

I am sure everybodies efforts are making a difference. I doubt even VW would want to alienate 2000 potential Mk5.5 owners.

....I wouldn't have thought it worthwhile going from an Ed30 to a Mk5.5, but possibly a Mk6.5 might be more compatible.

I agree RR I certainly won't be considering chopping in the ED30 until (or if) a more interesting version of the MK6 comes along.

I do think ED30Chris has a valid point that I am sure VW would love us all to run down to the dealers and start placing orders for the MK6 GTI as soon as it's available, but the current debacle with the plaques is likely to make some ED30 owners not consider make another purchase from VW.

You are right guys that there is little reason to change an ED30 to a Mk5.5. I certainly won't be making gthe change (despite the Mk5.5 growing on me).

But we might buy an Edition 35 and there are some people who just have to have the latest model and VW would love an ED30 in part exchange.

must admit i love my car , i also like the look of the mk6 but vw are not impresive as a company ,  i ve owned a few skoda s and seat s and their customer service is 100 times better than vw ,  if this plaque thing is nt sorted out vw wont be having my hard earned again for sure    !!!!!
