Banging in a 20vT or a VR6 is the easy/lazy option and would have transformed the characteristics of the car (especially the front heavey lardy VR6 lump).

I like what TSR did and it's much more interesting than just chucking in a bigger engine and calling a car modded.

Totally agree with the comments re engine swaps, but I really think the whole point of the piece was to show what can be done with the original engine/car.

Liked their suspension set up choice though! (pretty sure it was the same as mine) 

Looked sweet as on their test road. Shame I hate fifth gear, I want to rip that posh b!tches head off everytime she opens her gob!

Im glad they all loved the mk2. The 3 seconds quicker wasnt worth it though.

But it all depends on how much you are willing to spend on an 18+ year old car that is not even a classic. Keep it looking original? Yes! On the outside. But if you want power, there are far more cheaper ways of doing it. But this is only my opinion and if you see my project thread, I don't practice was I preach!  :embarassed:

the thing is tsr are gonna be thinking about advertising, and that sort of engine is what they do. if they put in a standard abf people are gonna just do it themselves rather than pay tsr thousands for there version.

a lot of that will be to do with replacing 20 year old suspension components though.

it would have been 6 seconds if they fitted some decent coilovers, arb's and poly bushes though. the car still had far too much body roll

agree it's the best place to spend money where going faster is concerned. they could have stuck some decent rubber on it too.
