Call yourself a main dealer???
« on: 14 May 2004, 21:07 »
Just thought i would write a note of how pissed off i was when had my car picked up from Herons of Newark.
1)They couldn't find my service book. Mine is a MK2 and my book was in the vag service slot under the steering wheel. (Now surely a qualified vw Garage would know this??) So to get the book stamped i have to f**k around somewhat.
2)I booked the car in for an oil leak to be fixed then the service after so only one lot of oil will be needed. I thought this would be simple. However all i got was advise i had a leak and no work undertaken.... Left me very confused...
3)They put the car down as being registered 98??? strange when it was registered on 1/7/1992???
4)Couldn't get my postcode right on the invoice, this may be rather petty but i went over it over the phone thoroughly....???
5)I had spoken to the parts dept who were supposed to sort a little discount out but never recieved.....????
Over all i am rather confused @ the s**t service i got. I work @ Lincoln Audi and know what ppl expect and this falls well short of a main dealer's level of service....if you can call it that??

they seem alright at my main stealer. they get a little confused why I keep ordering mk2/3/4 bits though lol.

they let me loose in a R32 when I asked though, which was nice. Although I found the car a bit disapointment.

I'll try and buy my bits from them, but when I can sometimes save ?50 getting it from mail order I do that.

WE have given up with main dealers, when ever they have had a car of ours in they have somehow messed up.

I use them for parts but the main parts departemnt is s**t, I know someone who works in the aftersales so he sorts out what i need, I don't have to pay up front for special oder parts and I get it all at a good discout

My local one (Southend) used to be sh!t. The aftersales when I bought my second car was rubbish, and the salesman was just damn rude when I went back with problems.

Fotunately, since then, theyve had a new showroom and a complete change of staff, and now they're pretty good. Salesman I boght my car off always makes the effort to come and ask how I'm getting on whenever I go in there  ;D

Might be worth logging on to www.volkswagen.co.uk and getting the head office address to complain to if you're peeved with the service op.

My local one in st albans is awful, I went in there asking if i put a GTI dash in with the rev counter, how much it would then be for them to rig the rev counter up. The only reply i got was:

"why do you want a rev counter"

Simple reply from me

"so i can see my revs"

I would right a letter to the manager at the branch and also send a copy to vw customer serv head office and put in teh letter what you are doing, I tink it will make your local branch jump as they know you have been to the top
