VW were on the ball in 2005 with the Mk5 GTI.  Out of the blue came one of the best cars in the world.

If I wanted an ordinary Golf I would be quite happy with the new less thirsty Mk6's.  BUT the GTI appears to have lost its distinctive looks in the reskin.  It's now just a Golf again.

I'm sorry to discolour your rose tinted specs but the MkV interior is sh!t. Tapping noises from the air conditioning being "normal", creaks, rattles etc etc. Obviously it's difficult to comment without actually touching it but the quality and ergonomics look three or four steps above. How many people have you heard step up to an S3 because the interior is far superior? Also how many people who traded in MK4 Golfs for MK5s were disappointed with the quality of the plastics in the MK5? I for one was!

WHAT!!!? you post a pic of the new interior and then go on about how cr@p the mk5's interior is because of the rattles  WTF!! im sorry but how do you know this doesnt have any rattles, uless of course you have driven one!!

also by looking at the interior pic, it looks VERY VERY VERY VERY simular to the mk5, so how is it 4 steps up??? i dont understand where or what you are looking at?? to me it looks very simular with not much change, this car really is the mk5.5

Like I said, without physically experiencing the interior it is difficult to say whether it is better screwed together. It is however possible to draw a conclusion on purely visual terms. I personally think it is a big improvement, and you obviously disagree (hence the multitude of various smilies and WTFs).

Compare the two alongside each other and there are noticeable differences.
