(HELP) ENGINE CONVERSION 2.0 8v from a mk3 on carbs?????

Right then, i curently have a 1.3 but im after abit more power.
i have a 1.8 driver that a brought for the engine n lil bits and bobs
and also a set of twin weber carbs..
my plan was to run a single webber on the 1.8 and just slide that it.
but ive been offerd a mk3 gti for £300 and its a mint runner.

Would i be best just throwing the 2.0 as it is or putting the 1.8 head on?
would it bennifit if i ran it off twin carbs?
or is it just too much hassle to change the 2.0 to carb, should i just keep with the 1.8 idea?

Put the 2.0 2E block under the 1.8 head (or even better a PB GTI head) and fit the Weber carb to it.  Are you talking about a twin-choke Weber carb - the 32/34 DTML unit, rather than 'twin carbs' which would be an utter ballache to fit to a counterflow engine?

Conversion to injection would be a lot more involved, including fitting a lift pump into the tank etc etc.  The 2E motor has funny-shaped ports and it's probably also running a cat and lambda, too.

I have a relatively fresh 1.8 lump with a GTI head on it sitting around, which you'd be welcome to for £50 to get it out of my workshop.

yehh ive got two 32/34 DTML carbs, i wanst sure but i was guessing i could run them together.
but i was told it would be pointless on the 1.8, would benefit better from a single unit.

cus i can get things like a manifold made to fit the webbers by my mate
i just wasnt sure if i could just bang the 2.0 in with the 1.8 driver head. put the webers on and be away.
no idea if its possible or worth it??

If you're going to that trouble then get an ABA 8V crossflow head, get the oil return welded up and redrilled appropriately, a little light head work and then hang carbs off the front of it.

If you're going to all that trouble then you may as well find a set of bike carbs and get your mate to make up a stub manifold for them, as they're more accurate and will flow air better than a pair of elderly Webers...... but if you're going that far then you may as well do things properly and get an electronic injection system on the motor.

32/34 dmlt webbers won't work well as a pair,    you need to feed 1&4 from one carb and 2&3 from th other   then try and balance the carbs.   that just ain't going to happen
