I don't think that it is either a masculine or feminine car. It appeals to both, it is practical for both and is just so good looking that
anybody looks good driving one! There are cars that are "bloke" cars and "girl" cars, but I seriously don't think the Golf is one of them.
Thirdly, I cannot imagine a woman coming to her boyfriend/husband and saying. "Buy me a Golf, please". It will rather be: "Buy me a TT/BMW/big jeep etc, please".
