Question - whats happens to the paint that is peeling once you apply vinyl? As in, does the paint just stay the same? Is there any chance of the paint then flaking and rusting etc etc?

i dont think it will peel any more or rust, shouldnt need to worry about that sort of thing. Only problem is that when vinyl is left on a vehicle for a long period of time, as in years, it is hard to get off sometimes and might pull paint off if its peeling. But i guess it doesnt matter if this happens, as the paintwork is bad already and you probs wouldnt want to take vinyl off!

Also..whats about when it comes to washing? Do you need a specific product?
Does it lift easily? What if water gets under and then sits, then that probs rust it quicker? :undecided:
See how I'm thinking of you Bradley..all these questions...

if its applied correctly, which it most defo will be if done by signwriter, then it wont ever come up. Nothing specially to clean, soapy water will do. I wouldnt go scrubbing it too hard though. Vinyl has a long life span but if you are constantly trying to clean the surface of the vinyl it will fade at a quicker rate. Although the fade will be very minimal and is not a concern really and it wont happen for a few years.

Aren't there any Hammerite stockists in your area?

Mask it off and spray it over with satin Smoothrite for under £10.

I still think the paper bag option is the right route, to be fair.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

plus it will be a better finish and probs last longer.

masking it off is a pain in the arse too!

But it would be hard to spray it evenly with a can too, but would be fun at the same time and more cost effective, but much more can go wrong and like said before, its permanent. You dont wanna do something like that for a mint mk3 mk3 :D

i might be able to get you vinyl if you can get it fitted for free (think you said someone can fit it for you?) But tbh, might be best getting the vinyl from your local sign shop, then you choose the specific color you want (pantone ref), etc.
