To get performance on par with a mapped ED30 £40K plus has to be spent!

Not quite, there very quick but still expensive. You can go alot faster for less than the cost of the ED30 and a remap

A few examples

Most other turbo remapped cars are capable of keeping up with or being faster than a remapped edition 30. Its never fair to compare a standard car vs a modified car!
Im not saying there not very fast (my topic to find that out proved they are very quick machines!)

My ED30 covers all bases for me in what I want out of a car. It looks well, it goes really well, it's practical and it gives decent fuel economy when not being pushed. The Nissan I would not be seen dead in, sorry that is just my point of view, the second one (not sure what it is) is completely impractical and the Jag would drink more than Paul Gascoigne! Maybe I phrased my comment wrong 'For me to get everything out of a car that I want, I would have to spend 40k plus'

the same for me
Never the old ugly nissan or that bathtub. And Jag? Well, when I'm 64 (maybe)
THe other turboed cars may be nice, but nothing as interesting as GTI have I found in my search

I'd have to buy 335i or something like that if I were to choose another car.

I know what you mean! Thos were just examples, the second is a westfield; if you dont know what it is you dont know enough about cars lol They do 0-100 in 9 secs and 0-60 in a little over 3!

You can get economy, practicality and comfort in one of these that are cheaper (to own, not run!)

I am familiar with Westfield as much as a non-Brit can be, that is I've read about it and I saw some pics.
0-60 in 3? So what? Performance is not everything.
Comfort and practicality in bathtub?
How about sense of beauty and style? Nissan is out right away. Same goes for bathtub on wheels. That Jag is for old guys (I don't like the new XF either. Jags are too "British Gentleman" for me).

....Well I'm only 3 years away from being 64 and I wouldn't have a Jag!!

Those little Nissans are pocket-rockets! Extremely fast and good fun
