It's interesting to see how many cone filters are out there, which apart from an awesome noise [fair comment] does bugger all for performance based on the engine breathing in hot air from the surrounding block etc cold feed or not. 

well it made my car drive a hell of alot better, alot smoother, and they aint quite as pointless as the drilled airbox and 50 quid replacement filter route hahaha

This took the pi33, I just got the sand paper out and started to sand 80 grit to about 600. I used some sanding mop type things on my drill where I could. But the tight areas are an arse. But looks good, just need to do the rocker cover

Then used a polishing mop set from ebay which was about £15.

  There are some tidy engine bays out there!  Are they just cleaned/sanded to be so mint, or are new/replacement parts needed along the way?  Can see me going this route..

mine is all the OE parts, which were alot worse for wear than any iv seen on here yet..took my engine to bits basically....

You must have a lot of time on your hands    I think engine out would be the only way.  No idea how I'm going to explain that to the missus..

engine dont have to come out, mine didnt and its mint now....has taken a yearof messing about and im still on it now, do it as and when i can, i lead a busy lifestyle so its hard to get the time in

a few more of mine... with the only new part added to the bay, a new coolant bottle

I'm embarrassed to show mine coz it's totally standard, dirty and I can't be 4rsed to clean it. But then again mine is not for show, it's a daily workhorse. Next year...  :embarassed:

yours is inspiriation for us all that use ours as daily drivers. ive gotta go through a rebuild first though. my valve stem oil seals are on the way out and it aint good.
