gti all the way.   much better base to start fetteling from.   1600 carb enignes have charicter and are good fun with a webber but they can also be utter sods when they want to be

you see the gti come down the road, people think its a classic, old skool weapon that they remembered from childhood. They see a cl they think 'oh, my mum used to have one of them'.

But if you MUST choose, keep the GIT. You will regret selling your GIT. Use the CL over winter, get the GIT sorted then over next summer drop that 16V lump you got in the CL, hey presto you've got 2x 16V  keep the CL looking CL but with the 16V lump it will be a nice little sleeper

cant remember seeing cl with a 16v lump conversion as a choice either but hey that would be rubbish......compared to the 20v
