T_T....

....I'll do my best to see any part numbers for you. Any clues whereabouts to look? VWR might know.

....It's only the central CF 'diffuser' component which I've changed from v1 to v2 - Not the 'side-vents-with-fine-wire-grill' (painted) which 'vaguely' vent air to the brake wheel arch spaces - Assuming I've understood you correctly! In other words the parts I think you were suggesting adding turning vanes to haven't been changed.

....Yes, it's Aerodynamics vs Aesthetics! As long as the aero isn't seriously compromised I'm inclined to favour the aesthetic. But that's why I value your input/opinions - to establish whether I still fancy the pretty girl over the less pretty one who cooks better! But the pretty girl is a waste of time if she gives you food poisoning! [How did you say you got that stomach bug?]

I think that in the context of the GTI and my fast road use as opposed to competitive track use, the compromises appear to be relatively minor. At least the Revo laptop data had some science in it - If everything is keeping cool enough and I'm not experiencing handling problems or spiralling into the hedge, then it's okay with me.

Following your advice to check the state of the DSG oil with VW Racing, that'll also be helpful information.

[Sorry I haven't laid my response out in a more directly integrated fashion (like you do) but I've got a major gig tonight - Being opened by the town Mayor and I'm solo-ing the start! Soundchecks etc need doing soon! Must dash]

Thanks for all your input - Always appreciated even if challenging (don't mention the war or open fog grills!)

Cheers mate :afro:

The undertray is fairly easy to find the part number (and presumably that will be comming off to fit the diff).  The wheel arch liner part numbers are on the rear sides, and unless these have to come out (I actually think they will, to access the gearbox mount), you wont be able to see them.

Yes, inside the two outer side vents, on the red painted lower - if you want to do them.  When it is up on the ramp, you should clearly see the ducts for the brakes - so even some basic vanes angled in that rough direction should be a big improvement.

Ha ha.  You remember when Bill Clinton actually asked Monica Lewinski to go and "sack his cook"!

And it was my pills ruining the lining of my stomach and intestines!

I fully agree.  But just to throw another tiny spanner in the proverbal works - don't you go down to Munich, and hot parts of Europe?  Maybe when it is hotter down there (compared to chilly old Blighty), then maybe that might be another point to consider.

Good idea.  Before opening the box to fit the Quaife, try to get them to drain it into an old (but clean) kitchen sink bowl, and then carefully look for any kind of impurities.  Also check the filter too.

No worries mate, have a good 'un tonight.
