....Well they do appreciate it and look after me ;). But, as they are sole Euro resellers for a number of items, it's naturally where I point people who ask where they can get it from.

....It's not just the TTshop who look after me!

But, yes, everyone's response to this splitter mod has been particularly positive so far (also on Biali Motorsport's forum). I had only seen a pic on OSIR's web site and wasn't sure but it looks right in the flesh. Purposeful without looking 'max-power'. I'm hoping it will actually contribute to the air flow to the gearbox area but T_T is the one to comment on that aspect. Perhaps his silence so far on this question may be "Well, Robin, I don't know how to tell you this, but you've just done the worst mod possible". But knowing T_T I'm glad to say he's very honest in his opinions whether you like it or not.

RR post's lots of pics of his car which we all like to see.  but i was blown away a couple of weeks back when horney posted some pics of Reds car, up to that point i never realised just how nice his car was.Reds own pics dont do his car justice.

....I just haven't been able to sort out my camera. It's a Fuji FinePix F11 and really shouldn't be showing the pink (except when shooting porn!).

If you want to e-mail them to me, then I'll gladly asses the quality of your camera, all FOC of course!

I've probably missed the boat now, but next time it is up on the ramp, can you post a pic of your undertray, full on?  As in an ants eye view looking upwards?

....She's next up in the air next week at VW Racing (at last!!!!) so I'll shoot some then. If I lie on my back on the floor will that be the shot you want to see? Anything in particular?

Yup, thats the exact shot. :afro:  Just make sure Quaife stuck the right one in the box this time before you start your journey!

You can just about make out the two intake slots under the gearbox(?) on the passenger side in the pic I posted.

Yes, they are specifically what I'm interested in.  The later GTIs seem to have a slightly different design for those vents, though it could simply down to the camera angle playing tricks on the eye.

I was half expecting you to say that what I've done is a bad idea in terms of air flow - Not too late for you to still say so! The side 'slots' feed fairly directly towards the brakes btw

I've said my "piece" on that particular issue!    But seriously, I'll have another gander at your pics (can't see 'em as I'm typing this ), and let you know.

My internal front wheel arch linings have big openings (as OEM and not homemade).

:afro:

Ohhh, can we have pics of those too?  What model year is yours (just the 10th digit of the VIN)?  <fx/on> fires up parts catalogue for a gander <fx/off>

OK, had another look at the image of the underside.

For the two outer vents (under the fog lamps), I reckon they are fine, and should direct airflow to the brake ducts.  Though if I were being really pedantic, maybe some turning vanes inside those (behind the outer mesh), so that the airflow is positively directed out towards the brake ducts.

Regarding the centre carbon diffuser - it looks the mutts nuts. :afro:  However, I am a little concerned that it is taking too much air away from the lower centre grille (which is vital for the intercooler and coolant rads).  Yes, it is sending air (and a lot of air) under the bumper (which may help reduce overall drag, and give a small increase in top speed), but looking at the image, it actually looks as if it is angled down towards the tarmac.  So the majority of the airflow from that will be going straight under the car, and most will miss the ducts for the DSG.  Some air will still get into the DSG ducts, but because of the angle of the carbon bit, air entering the ducts will have lots of vortices.  So, personally, I would try to angle the carbon splitter upwards, or even try to narrow the overall height of the gap between it and the lower edge of the bumper.  :nerd:

T_T....

....I'll take lots of pics of her soft underbelly for you next week.

....On her Birth Certificate her 10th digit of VIN is 6 (last but one and starting from 1K) and Mother Wolfsburg went into labour July 11th 2005 and she was delivered naturally 4th August, and stated as "06 Build".

....I'm not having any brake problems so won't bother to fabricate any turning vanes unless needed.

....Yes that OSIR centre diffuser is angled slightly downwards and its construction in CF doesn't allow any revisions. However, quite coincidentally the diffuser I replaced it with (OSIR's first version) directed air even lower and I arrived at Revo HQ after a spirited three-and-a-half hour drive (hot car) and after a coffee break we went out with a laptop and Revo remarked on how cool my temperatures were running (mild weather day before yesterday) after a long drive.

The best I could do is attach a 'rear wing' changing the back angle upwards and it would be out of sight but I'm not sure it's really needed. Also, my next mod may be the S3 intercooler, though I appreciate that's slightly off on a tangent.

Here's a pic of my version 1 OSIR diffuser (which also shows that pair of gearbox slots better - To the DSG) : -

Very witty - made me LOL.

I've had a shufty on the parts catalogue, and can't find any change to the undertray, and I can't find any part numbers for vented arch liners.  So that usually means that any former parts which have been subsequently changed are now no longer available, and have been positively superceeded.  I'd be interested if you are able to find the part numbers stamped onto the undertray and vented arch liners - because once you know them, you can still do a manual look-up in the catalogue.

....I'm not having any brake problems so won't bother to fabricate any turning vanes unless needed.

But haven't you only recently put the "Mk2" lower lip on?    :undecided:  Maybe the orginal CF lip was fine, but the new one may be slightly different?  :undecided:

In pure aerodynamic terms, I think the original CF lip was the better, though your latest one does look the better.
