Wind sheild claims
« on: 17 September 2008, 11:44 »
When claiming for a stone chip to a wind sheild, although the insurance company says it will not affect any NCB or my policy in anyway, the fact that it is a claim, what is the likely hood that I'll be made to pay by premium the following year?

are you claiming for a whole screen or just repair? If its only a repair you often dont even have to pay the excess.

A windscreen claim should not (it would not with us) affect your premium.

It's just for a small chip. Let's hope they don't try to push it up the next year then!

Iv just had me screen replaced (this morning actually lol). Resin injection was free but didnt fix it so was a £70 payment for the windscreen (I pay over a thousand pounds a year for fully comp yet I still have to pay even more when I want something done, no offence Martin as your a top fella and just doing your job but I detest insurance companies, they are scum). I was told it will not effect my price, I even recorded the conversation on my mobile if they even try it next year.

The bloke came this morning and said due to the cracks at the edges of the chip, it can't be fixed. So he said, see how it goes and if it ever does crack into something bigger, replace the screen.

That sounds like crazy advice but then again im no "specialist". Also doesn't it bug you that there is a chip / crack in your screen. Mine was only small but driving me insane knowing it was there.

I think it's good advice, rather than taking my money.

In my experience if you have windscreen replacement as part of your policy then it doesnt effect your next premium.
