Central locking question now...
« on: 15 September 2008, 21:20 »
Right the next query....

Our "new" 3 door 1997 SE has central locking which currently only works from the passenger side so. and when locking from the passenger side the air pump can be heard running, and from the drivers door you can hear the air whistling behind the lock so......

Is this a common problem?
Is it just a case of a tube becoming disconnected, and is it just an easy push-on refit?
Can anyone guide me as to how to remove the interior door card [manual windows] any pictures of door card removal and or piccies of the door lock workings??

Thanks in advance once again

The to do list is slowly getting smaller

I dont think you have any problems with your pump, etc, all sounds fine there.

You defo need to get the door card off and check the piping, as this is exact sound you get when the vacuum line is pulled out. i fitted a remote to the central locking and so that educated me on the central locking system ;)

You need to be really careful, but it is quite simple. The door card just breaks off. But firstly you need to take off the plastic bit that would house the window switches if they were electric. Behind this is a couple screws that need undoing. You then need to unclip the door card. It requires some force to pop it off each clip, and using a screwdriver to pry it off will damage the door card, you need something flat and rigid.

Good Luck!

LL ;)
