Rear Right engine mount!

What ever you do...buy a genuine mount. I learnt my lesson.

The pattern parts gave bad vibration. This is real annoying. Just buy the mount for your car and forget the uprated stuff

Remove the airbox for more room and there are 3 bolts near the exhaust manifold area and two large bolts near the driver side wish bone. (forgot the size)

You may have to disconnect the driveshaft to get the mount out.


put the car on axel stands and you will need a jack to hold the engine up

Ok cool... I had read only the front mount really needs uprating just wonderd others thoughts! Cheers guys!

put a solid front mount in and if the rear mount is weak  you'll snap the bracket going from the engine to the fount mount,  i nicked / borrowed beavies mounts as i was in a hurry, the G60 rear engine mount is much different to the normal 8 & 16v rear mount,    that made a massive difference on it's own and highly recommend it, the 1.3 front mount also helped a lot  or you choudl spend £170 on a poly front mount

I allready have a Vibratechnics front mount... Now the rear has gone! I hope it has not snapped!!!

it's the front mount bracket that snaps  because of the movement on rear mounts.  you would know if it had gone

the later 16vs have the same rear mount as the G60, also the later 16v switched to the bonded rubber rear box mount as fitted to the 1.3.

basically the rule of thumb is, buy the cheap front and box mount, and the expensive rear engine mount

oh and as for fitting it, its not an easy job with engine in but apparently its easier if you release the driveshaft from the gearbox!  I've not done it myself, I prefer to wait till the engine is out

Job done!! Was a bit of a night mare to be honest as the long bolt that goes through the spacer was seized solid! Di it with the engine in place. No need to disconnect the drive shaft, Oddly you have to jack the engine up to free it but then the only way to get it out is to lower the engine and eventually it just falls out!! Has made a massive difference to the feel of the car!! Well worth it!
