Highline oil level warning light
« on: 14 September 2008, 11:16 »
just got back from me hols yesterday, (just to make you all jealous was 42 degrees last week in Corfu) and thought i would check all the fluids in me motor and noticed the oil was really low as in on minimum, of course i filled it right back up but thought the oil waning light hadnt come on at all as it usually does to warn me which was strange, anyone else had any problems like this? possibly sensor issue not sure?

cheers Dan

Yup.

The oil level sensors are as useful as a chocolate fire guard.  On my last S4, it didn't warn me until it was about 10mm BELOW the minimum.  Which is why I rant on about people must regularly use their dipsticks, and not rely on the oil level sensor.

thanks TT for the reply,
thought as much but, just to clarify im pretty anal about these things anyway as i work on alot of motorbikes (as a hobbie) and i have spent countless hours un-ceasing barrels for people as they dont put oil in their bikes so i know what you are saying.

If you are still under warranty, then get it checked out.  They usually just replace the sensor - well, at Audi they do - VW stealers may well be different!

Oh, and I used to do a fair bit of two stroke tuning - loved that!  Castrol R = ahhhhhhhh!
