Shame that you're so many miles away mate as I've done mine that many times now that I must at least be semi-professional.
Basically you'll need a couple of you, one to hold weight from top and you under controlling location.
Here's how I did it:
Get her up in the air on some axel stands and get a trolley jack under the engine (piece of wood as not to damage the sump)
Inner driveshaft bolts removed and driveshafts moved away from gearbox - n/s had to be removed in my case due to space restrictions.
Remove gearbox housing bolts, remove front and rear (gearbox) engine mounts then whilst you are under holding the weight get your mate to split the box from the engine. Twist the gearbox so that the diff goes backwards and up past the housing case then drop it down and lead it out..... done!
Saved me ?150 labour when I had my box reconditioned.
