Its held on with crimp clamps. quick fit will cut it off if you ask nicely but if your golfs anything like mine then that buzzing noise your getting around 1500-3500 grand is the heat shield around the manifold near the bulk head which is a pain in the arse to get off.

I have got rid of all the rattles. Fixed the one on the manifold with some exhaust putty.
I only ask as mine fell off the other day and wondered if it was worth putting back on, but needed to know what its supposed to look like as i was a little flat when i picked it up of the road!! lol

They fall off quite often, just leave it off. Cut mine off ages ago and had no problems.

Mine fell off down a quite country road - it was rattling like hell then there was a bang as it bounced off the road and hit the floor of he car. My mate said "What the hell was that!" and i told him it was just something useless falling off the car. Never replaced it so although my car is completely standard, it now goes a bit faster due to less weight. Or something like that...

That heat shield is usefull if you park on grass or anything like that..   Its been known for a hot cat to light grass under it causing the car to burn to the ground.
