2nd service
« on: 12 September 2008, 17:56 »
Had 20k service today £184 + £40 for brake fluid change at Haysledens Barnsley, couple of hours it was done, car washed and waxed + vacced out.

Interesting thing quoted me for a tyre ( already ordered vredesteins online ) £125 fitted ! didnt think that was bad, cheaper than black circles etc.

Car has a recall on fuel pressure sensor and has to go back in, other than that pretty pleased!

front brakes 30% worn, back ones 15% , done 19.5K, they will last forever!
steel grey, 5 door , leather, parking sensors, IPod, 18" monza,MF wheel,  K&N filter , smoked rear lights and mirror indicators,,, no remap..... yet!!

Not a bad price, if that was all in (ie, parts, labour, and Alstair Darlings chunk).  I recently had SWMBOs 20k + BFC done for a labour-only price of £96 +VAT (I supplied my own parts and oil at trade prices).

Are you on LongLife regime?

I'm surprised they didn't do the pressure sensor at the same time - unless they were out of stock!

Why the quote for just one tyre?  Boots should really be replaced in axle pairs.  Interesting comment on the tyre price though!

I reckon you don't really drive it too hard though.

Was the car pre-booked for the service?  If so, they really should have ordered the sensor beforehand.

I can understand why you want to part with the Dunlop ShyteMaxx,   but I don't get your lust for the Vredsteins?

We arn't all "Obsessive Compulsive Detailers"!

I even let them wash my RS, though they always do a good job - hand cleaning only at Audi stealers!

The Vreds get really good reviews

I know they got a good review in Evo - but then that Evo test was blatantly biased!

At the end of the day though, the true benchmark of how good a tyre is, is does it have any OEM approvals, and when renewal time arises, will they get refitted, or will sommat else go on.  Sadly, I don't know of any OEM approvals for Vredstein, and nor do I know of any serious high performance owners using them.  ETTO, though
