we should kick off a few mk1 projects at the same time and follow them on the site.

we have your new one, rich could use one of his 17 or so mk1's and me and s11eps are in discussion about building a stripped out mk1 racer  ;D quality!

I'm an expert on these .....

You'll need a few extra's to put it all together though.

1. Facet Silver Top Fuel Pump
2. Adjustable Fuel Regulator
3. Throttle linkage
4. Twin throttle cables
5. Filter elements
6. Inlet manifold
7. 2 DCOE 40 or 45's depending on the performance your looking for / and or cam etc
8. T-pieces to link all the fuel links
9. Fuel line
10. Duel throttle spindle to link the carbs
11. 'O' rings for the Inlet manifold

erm - I think that's it - I built an engine from scratch with all these on my last car so got some very useful knowledge!

The carbs will set you back about ?300 second hand, but all in set aside about ?500 for jets etc ...

'bigboystoys' sell a kit new for ?775 which seems quite good, but loads of bits are missing for a complete conversion. There are a few corners you can cut, but if you got the money it's best to do the job properly.

Lol ... well I must say the noise of a charger isn't far ahead of an old skool engine running twin carbs with a single box exhaust system.

Flames - popping - rasping, god I miss it ... be prepared for hefty fuel bills though. 30quid would do 120 miles!  :o

Seriously though any help you need I'm more than happy to help you out matey - remember I got a BSc in Automotive Engineering, so I know my stuff ;)

If your gonna do the carbs best to go the whole hog - race cam / solid lifters / port matched / bigger valves / skimmed head / forged pistons / lightened fly wheel / balanced crank / 4 branch ... and most of all UPRATED FECKING OIL PUMP. I scrimped on that and she popped - grrrr still it let to me getting hooked on VeeDubs so not a bad thing after all !
