Carbonio fitting guide??

A friend of mine has bought a mk5 gti recently which had a carbonio induction fitted, he didn't want it on the car however so I bought it from him.
Is there a fitting guide available here or is it a simple bolt on job?
He gave me the upgraded air filter which was being used along with the carbonio also.
Should I get a new ITG or similar filter or just use the one he had on it already?

It's very simple to fit/remove.

There are two bolts holding the carbonio to the front of the car one of which is a little fiddly to remove. The jubilee clip at the rear of the CF is easy enough to remove from the air box.

....But take care regarding the engine cover / air filter box - It's easy to break that!

The Carbonio comes with a Pipercross panel filter so that's what you should have. It's better than the stock filter but not as highly rated as the ITG Pro. But the ITG costs nearly 60 squid. But it is extremely low maintenance and a good 'un. I don't have any scientific data to back that up though.

I'll make do with the filter he gave me for now! Would it need to be oiled etc?

Does the car run ok when it's started for the first time after fitting or does it need to be let tick over for a while to allow the ecu to adjust?

....I didn't do anything different or special when I fitted my Carbonio with Pipercross filter, nor when I upgraded my filter to an ITG. I think that the ECU will adapt at its own comfortable pace and you need not worry - It constantly works on the fly or 'smartly' according to what info various sensors etc etc feed it.

There's not going to be much air intake happening on tick-over anyway.

Teutonic_Tamer will doubtless know the detail but I think I've got the principle of it correct.

Do NOT oil the supplied Pipercross filter!

If clogged you just gently wash it and let it dry out before reinstalling.
