What are these called and where can I get them.
« on: 09 September 2008, 12:29 »
Hi,

At some point when I feel confident enough I'm going to remove the rear doors (is that hard to do by the way?) and sort out a rust issue I have (as seen on the picture). I want to get some new rubber seal thingys though and just wondered what their official name was and where I can get hold of them.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Stealership, they'll probably have a part no. on if you take one off & look.

Do you have to take the door off to fix the rust? You'll get away with just masking it off I'd think?

Upto you of course! :afro:

If I can get away with it I'd love to not have to take the door off - it's in a bit of a tricky position so I think I'd end up making a better job of it if I were to remove it... Looking in the Haynes manual it looks fairly easy (and they've only given it a 2 spanners!)

Haha! Yea, it's easy enough, just take care not to damage it & get it sitting right when you put it back on!

that seal just pulls off, theirs a part number on it, they aint expensive either, you wanna remove it as you have a major rust problem going on, treat it with the rubbe roff then paint it, as that metal is sooooo thin once a hole starts it will basically take over and their will be nothing left of that part of the door

you can remove it without removing the door, the support unbolts and retracts (10mm spanner is all thats needed)

With regards to this comment - do you mean the hoizontal bar that joins the door to the body?
