he would say that about the dsg, hes trying to flock his manual!!!!. If its that good ,whys he selling it and bigging up the renault sport R26 when thats about as comfortable as a ride in a tesco trolley!.

Bargain though, and makes horrifying reading for us owners seeing how much devalued 2nd hand residuals are now.Although it has no bells or whistles and its buy it now is abit hopeful to say the least!.

Don't sell - you'll regret it

IF you do sell, I reckon on £14k private, £12.5k trade.

This guy had to advertise twice on E-bay AND lower his reserve to finally sell it :

It's a 2007 ED 30 (Aug 07), 11,000 miles .. looks like he got around  £15,450 in the end

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140261924782&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=004

Anyone on here ??    Check out the write up    obviously not a DSG fan

Me thinks that ad needs reporting, because the Ed30 and the standard GTI have identical suspension!

I've just been offered £13,300 for an 07 Gti with 12,000 miles, 5 door, extras - met paint, cruise control, upgraded sound pack

That was against a Skoda Octavia Vrs Estate  :embarassed:

But at that trade in value I'll be sticking with the GTI

I take it that's for a UK car, not an import ?

Good decision - keep it, residuals are sh@t at the moment and unlikely to recover

Got to put my two penneth worth in on this topic...

I bought an 54 plate Audi TT 3.2DSG in January and paid £18k....the same dealer offered me £11k 4 months later and said it was the current market and no one buying big engined cars.  And that was also me trying to part-ex it against a brand new 3.2DSG which they had on there forecourt.  When I tried to apply his logic for such a low price to the newer car he said "It was a more prestigous car" as it was the newer model blah blah blah.

I vowed never to go back to an Audi dealer and wrote a fairly stern letter to the sales manager to which I have never had a reply.

In the end, I found a great little independant garage in Manchester and got just under 13k for the TT against my 07 GTi DSG with 10k on clock.  I put about 4k onto that for the GTI.  So I was now 10 grand down in 4 months of buying my two cars....now thats a kick in the nuts.

All I would say, is that people are so uncertain about the current market, its not the time to sell.  I would wait 6 months and I bet ya prices will have risen again and people won't be making fool hardy decisions to try and reduce their financial liabilities.

Stick with it and enjoy the GTI.  I flippin love mine and won't be selling for some time...

This is probably the best car I've ever owned! I just thought now might be a good time to sell, before prices plummet too far! I was thinking about getting something maybe cheaper and a little larger to accomodate the kids and the mass of camping gear that we recently crammed into the Golf!
Life is not a rehearsal, live it.
