Is Mileage correction possible?
« on: 11 May 2004, 11:39 »
Hi all,

The revcounter in my golf finally died the other day, so went to my local scrappy and got myself a new one which works fine. The only problem is that the milage is alot less then mine, and I really want to have the correct milage on the clock.
Shame its not like the mk II where you can change any gauge independantly from the others.
Anyway went to the dealer who said that they cant change the mileage on speedos that already have mileage on them.
Is this true? Does anyone know of a way of changing it?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Do a search on google for mileage correction companies and it will bring up loads. Not sure on the legality of this, but as I understand it, as long as you are not falsifying the mileage to something it is not its fine. I got a quote on the other halfs 306 when the digital readout went. The dealer couldnt do it (new cars have a back up now apparently where the original mileage is stored), so i enquired to one of these companies and they quoted me ?100......no chance. I got the dealer to give me proper certificate so no worries when selling,
