Well it's defo only the front, floor I think is ok, but not sure about the inner cill.
I've only just started welding but no where near the standard it'd need.
Whilst I'm still riled here is the letter I'm sending to the garage who fubar'd things;
To whom it may concern,
Following an appointment on Wednesday 3rd September of this year, I’m writing to you to voice my dissatisfaction at the work carried out on my vehicle.
When I returned to your garage to collect my car, registration number *******, a MK3 Golf GTi, I noticed that the exhaust back box was sitting low, out of level & off to the side. Some of your staff attempted to correct this by slackening off the rear most fixing bracket & rotating the box. After some time it was improved but far from as it was when the car was delivered to you. Your staff stated that they couldn’t get it any better as it had now been welded in place. I agreed that this was for the time acceptable but advised that I would return the vehicle to you if it was not ‘right’ as I had yet to drive it.
Moving on, having now had the car back for a few days I’m disappointed at the increase in volume of the exhaust system. The general ‘noise’ has increased to an unbearable level; you described this as ‘throaty’ when I was present, however, this was not apparent when I left the car with you and I’m yet to determine whether this is down to the standard of fitting or the quality of the replacement parts that you have supplied, I will add that the exhaust now blows at both the mid-pipe to mid-box joint & at the CAT to mid-pipe joint. Further more, the rear pipe now pushes up on the underside of the car & the mid pipe now sits off to the side, pushing against the one of the hanging bracket, both of which I can assure you weren’t the case prior to the appointment at your garage.
The most infuriating issue I’m writing to you about is the damage done to the underside of my car during the time it was in your garage. Both front sills have collapsed where the car has been carelessly jacked up approximately 6†back from the re-enforced jacking points. This is entirely unacceptable. I will now have to face untold costs in getting this put right & feel it is only fair to pass these costs on to you.
In summary, you supplied & installed a new catalytic converter with no consideration to the quality of fitting as the exhaust has been welded out of position causing it to vibrate against other parts of the car as well as causing the rear boxes to sit badly. The noise level of the system is unbearable both inside & out, which I will have determined by an independent garage as to whether this is due to the fitting or parts supplied. Either being the case I ask that I am refunded for the fitting costs, or if the parts are not suitable (Ref. Trade Description Act 1968 & Consumer Rights) then refunded for the parts on return or for the full amount if it is found that both are inadequate.
