Boys,

Forgive me for asking, but can you fit an atmospheric dump valve on VAG 1.8 turbo 150bhp.  All the posts i see seem to recommend a re-circulating, but without sounding sad i am really after the sound, help appreciated, plus are thee any good fitting guides on the net???
Cheers boys

What is the point? You might as well go and buy a clapped out old Sierra Cosworth instead. You'll have much more space inside it than a Golf, so you can fill it up with pointless stereo equipment and the obligatory neon lights to go with your whooshing dump valve......

On a more serious note, an atmospheric dump valve will be bad for your engine as the MAF sensor is upstream of the recirculating valve; if you dump the turbo air to atmosphere then less engine will enter the engine and the mixture will be wrong (unless you have the engine custom remapped to compensate?)

It is possible (as said above with custom ecu remap) but also quite pointless. After about a week the noise will annoy the sh!t out of you.
If you really must go for this mod then i'm sure someone on the uk-mkivs.net forum has done this, might be worth doing a few forum searches.

Other alternative could be to just unplug the MAF sensor and the ecu will run at factory default level settings.
Can't imagine that'd be very good for either performance or economy though  :-\

Varies from car to car, be happy with a 40 - 50bhp increase. Everyone was a little surprised at my 90 lb ft torque increase, a lot of that was to do with my other mods though.

hey hey, looks like i found the answer, it ppears that most of the seat boys are using these on their turbies,

The GFB Dump vlave, a hybrid that is part recirc and part atmos, check it out,
