And so.....
« on: 06 September 2008, 17:40 »
.....my Skyline sold last night and I went straight to my local VW dealer today to ask them to search for a GTI based on my budget and requirements.

After requesting more details, etc, I have put down a deposit on a late 55-plate GTI (November registered) with a manual 'box.      So coming to the end of the warranty, but they said they'll give me another years warranty.

Been trying to find out more about the various factory recalls - and all I've managed to find out so far is the engine management flash (to 24k6) and something about the fuel pressure regulator.  My friend at VW looked up the history of the car for me and the service details they had showed there was no outstanding recall work to be done, but I wondered if there's any way I can check that these 2 things have been done ?

Anyway, once I collect the car I'll be sure to put a couple of pics up.

Thanks.

Here's a couple of shots of the Skyline from a dyno day in May and an engine shot taken just before it went:

Sorry, never even heard of "Fatman Studios"

Thanks for the kind comments re: the Skyline.  I had 5.5 years of great enjoyment from that car, but lack of use really was the driving force behind selling it. Just couldn't justify keeping it anymore.  I'm sure I'll miss it, but when you're not driving a car it doesn't make a great deal of sense to keep it.  I'm just really looking forward to my GTI arriving now

So, can nobody summarise the recall's I've mentioned and what I should be looking for with regards to checking they've been done on the car I'm getting ?

Cheers,
Daz

Only update I've had was the 24k6 ECU. My GTI is a Sept 2006 (MY2007) car - this was done at the first service last year.
