Continuation...
« on: 04 September 2008, 03:19 »
further to my "stuck" thread, I have pretty much come to the conclusion that a cheeky little V5 is on the cards, however i have also come to the decision that it would be wise to obtain this in the best shell possible. For this reason I am going to go and look at some Toledos tomorrow and see what they are like, as in my opinion this is the most car for the cash i have.

Questions are, what are the V5s really like? Are there any massive faults with them? is there anything not so obvious that i should be keeping and ear/eye out for?

Cheers.

ex's dad had a mk4 golf estate 2.3 v5 - great car! plenty of torque, felt quick too given that it was an estate and all.

That was a similar conclusion to what I came to, the V5 Toledo is plenty of car for the money, you get more than you would in a Bora and they're lighter than the similarly engined Passat.
The Toledo V5 engines did come in two versions though, 150bhp and 170bhp.

IIRC they're a bit guzzley and the sump is low and alloy - expensive to replace if you belt the deck with it.

Proper V6 in a Passat FTW (not some narrow-angle rubbish).
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
