VR6 conversion

well i have been thinking about this for a little while and now is the time for a VR6 conversion:)

so what do i need and how hard is it to do for a qualified mechanic (me) :wink: :wink:

Qualified mechanic about a day or two, depending on how much he wants to rip you off.

Engine, gearbox, engine loom, alternator, mk3 subframe? (maybe Toledo/Ibiza subframe) MK3 drive shafts. you might be best off buying a scrapped MK3 VR6 with a known good engine and using bits you need as you go along rather than getting bits and then realizing you still other bits and so on...

I'm sure some more experienced people will add to my list above.

hi mate, with the recent economic down turn etc etc lol..##

it works out cheaper to buy s converted mk2 nowadays than build one IMO.

few additions to above:-

passat hyd pedal box
depending on your wheels 280mm g60 or the VR6 with 5 stud
if 5 stud - new rear discs with 5 stud
vibratechnics front engine mount or solid
corraddo front crossmember
vr6 radiator and twin fan
cable change selector for where the gear knob is
mk3 clocks if using the mk3s obd2 immobiliser/key

obd2 2.8 or the 2.9 is the one to go for...

thats whats on this one i am running not keen on it tbh, have the pedal box in the shed ready to go on -just my personal prefernce!

more bits:-
bigger master cylinder if going from 8v
