Tyre pressure warning light wont go off
« on: 03 September 2008, 15:25 »
Yesterday my tyre pressure warning light came on, so i checked all the pressures and one was down to 22psi.
I have fixed the puncture and set all 4 tyre pressures to 34psi, but the light was still illuminated.

Several trims down the motorway and around town haven't made any difference, its still on, so, what do i do to reset it, or does it suggest a there is a problem elsewhere?

Just hold the button down for a few seconds and it will reset itself, I think there might be a beep from somewhere to confirm.  The system does not actually monitor the pressure but it goes on the rolling radius of the wheel.  If you have a puncture then the rolling radius is decreased and the light will come on!

Hold down the button until you hear the "beep" and the dash warning light goes out.

Just check that you don't have a puncture first though!

Also doen't the car have to be on level ground so that the settings are correct when you press the SET button?

Well, according to the original post, the OP stated he checked his tyre pressures, after fixing the puncture - so I reckon he's got that covered!

Nope.  Although it is wise to use the TPMS set button with your "normal" loads in the car.  So don't poke the button with a long stick, with no-one in the car, and then usually carry a family of five who are all Gold-Card carrying life members of Slimmers World.!

wanderer - if pressing and holding the button still don't work, then you may need to carry out a reset.  Look at the top of the Mk5 index page for the sub-forum "maintenance and info" and look for a sticky thread for free workshop manuals, download the one appropriate to the TPMS, and it tells you exactly how.
