Get a garage to look at it for you and ask them to tell you exactally whats wrong with it and what needs doing, Then before you sign to anything post exactally what they said up here and give it 48 hours, By then we should of all been able to come up with ways to get it sorted or parts we can get hold off, The advantage of Mk1s and Mk2s are that theres always a few at a scrap Yard, So replacing old wings and bumpers is always easy. Also, If you need any hard to find parts E-bay is the place to find them, Not always cheap mind, But they always have what you want there.

Or just buy new bits from Euro/GSF, thats always another route. Don't worry, it will all turn out fine. Your pride and joy will be back to her best in a month or 2. Another idea.................. is anyone a paintsprayer on here that can help out?

don't GSF sell non genuine wings that fit aswell as a square in a circular hole?

it could be fixed. just do it yourself.

Hey soundillusion
Gutted for you mate, I think I passed you on saturday just after it happened (if it was you parked in the back of a black mk4). Said to my girlfriend at the time it was a real bloody shame about the mk1, of course didn't matter about the mk4! Hope you are ok, I know how you feel totalled my mint oak green valver last year. Very similar damage to yours, the doors didn't meet the windscreen pillars anymore, roof and sills were creased etc etc. The thing that kept my morale up is that i WILL find a replacement no matter how long it takes.
Hats off to ya for pressing on to inters.

Cheers
Toby

Bad Luck mate we passed you on the A14 as well.  :'( We first heard about the incident on the BBC Suffolk Travel News, was going to stop & help but saw the MKV parked up.
I hope your planning a rebuild because it is one sweet looking car.

if you're replacing body panels, go VW every time. the shut gaps will be so much nicer. if you cant afford new VW panels, find tidy s/h ones.

^^^^^couldn't agree more. Better to buy a clean second hand original than a new pattern GSF. I think you'll find that apart from VW the only other reliable source for new quality panels is GPC.
