New Scirocco driven.
« on: 02 September 2008, 19:32 »
Just got back from having a spin in new Scirocco.Sadly no DSG or leather and in dowdy red. Got to say not over impressed.Granted, i did not go mental with it but my GTI felt so much sportier as soon as i got back in it.   Inside the cabin was very gloomy especially in the back. I think the panoramic roof is a must.
Pity i couldn't give it a good thrashing as it might have given me a better vibe. Guess i'll have to wait till new GTI comes out.

Interesting . . . .

Do you think it is the lower, coupe-style roofline which makes the interior gloomy?  The one good thing about the Golf is its good headroom, which even with the GTIs anthracite rooflining, doesn't make it too opressive.

Same here, had a good look around one at ED38 and was somewhat underwhelmed  I should be getting one to play with soon so will make a more informed decision then!

It's not a *bad* looking motor but it just seems like it's missing something.

Are they suposed to be doing a GTI version of it??

....Where did you get that information?

Having driven the new Scirocco for half a day and plenty of R32's, a R36 engine in a Scirocco will feel far too heavy imo.

Thanks for the review.

The coast road to Bridport is great!  i used to love that road at 6 in the morning on my bike, then up the A37 to work.  The trip was about 40 miles, but work is only 7 miles down the road!

Great review RR.
