Remap question..
« on: 01 September 2008, 12:10 »
I’m curious about going down the remap route but wondered if there are any recommendation against remapping cars after they’ve done a certain number of miles?. My golfs coming up to 90,000 but has got a full VW service history and has been very well looked after.

Cheers mate, thought as much. Definitly considering it.. I'm thinking of persuing the route of my car being standard from the outside but a beast under the bonnet.. See how far I can take it..

I'm thinking induction kit, DV, maybe a new turbo, exhaust (hidden of course), brakes, bit lower should do it.. Oh and sat nav out a new Passat for good measure..

which Audi one's??

AFAIK no Audi stereo's will fit the MKIV as they are different shapes to the standard h/u and they use different connectors

the new touchscreen sat navs are too wide i  believe to fit the MKIV dash

Ah I might be wrong then, havent really looked that deeply into it. Would love VAG sat nav in it though..

On a different note, what are peoples top 5 things to do to your 1.8T engine?

1.Remap
2. DV ?
3...
4...
5...

You catch my drift? I'm curious as to other peoples methods of modification and if the performance differs due to personal preference?

1. DV
2. Remap
3. Full turbo back exhaust - includes a sports CAT which will give you the biggest overall gains in the system
4. uprated pipework - replace vaccum lines too as these can often split and cause boost leaks
5. brakes and suspension to control all your power!

I know AMD give the car a road test before they fit a chip to make sure everything is as it should be. I assume other places do the same thing.
