i need to do this as mine is currently w@nk

was thinking of painting it my body colour (fjord blue - LR5V)

don't want black or polished

what do you guys recommend that i do... get the paint made up at stealers? or a paint shop? do i need to add anything to it if I wanted to guarantee HT capability?  (boneybradley i know you have used ordinary paint but I am still slightly sceptical)

yeah I was unsure and it was meant to be a stop gap while I sorted my spare rocker..but 6 months now and it still looks ok. I was going to polish my spare but I'm now unsure? (its a bit common  :lipsrsealed: sorry kells)

i want to get an exact match.... you think that'll look alright?  how do you reckon i can go about doing it with HT paint?

I'm not sure who can mix ht paint?? but I'm unsure about body coloured!! maybe a bit o.t.t.. I chose red as I have used the colour elsewhere.

you think?

hmmm....

this is my bay as it stands at the moment...

i would have thought that the body coloured cover would have contrasted with the black parts in the engine bay and also match the pillar mounts and bonnet underside... but i think to work it has to be exact?

hahahahahaha whatever boney    well all my metal bits are polished, even the copper bits that are on the brake lines....

tbh i wouldnt reccomend polishing unless you have to time to keep upto it, i polish mine up with the autosol every few days, if not stains can appear, water can damage the finish if your not carefull etc, its ok for me as i make the time to do it, and seen as my cars have always had polished bays its just the norm to me but im guessing for some people it could look crappy pretty quickly

same colour rocker as the car would be good, guy u would ideally want to prime it with a heat resistant paint then spray with normal paint and laquer it :) would look fantastic and make your bay look really up to date, i say do it

You know what im fed up with?  Every time i opend the bonnet on my 8V or my 1.8 (which looks identical accept for the injection system)  the people in my garage or people i know always laugh and say "wow that engines tiny"  Which i suppose it is pretty small...  the 16v is the only one that looks like a powerfull engine..

Same with my 1.4 but to be fair thats alowd to be small.. So i might do what i did on my 1.4... fit a big cover over it :P   it took a bit of custom fitting and that but it stoped people laughing at my little AEX Engine

Although to the trained eye it is a mondeo engine in a golf
