Category D salvage is a vehicle written off with repair costs that fall just short of its pre-incident value but is still repairable.

repaired and ready to go

ive brought a cat d before,
a 206 gti, which was pretty nice by the way :-*
just make sure you get the certificate to go with it saying that it has been repaired properly and inspected by the dvla.

that is very important ;)

I wouldn't buy one to be honest, yeah it might be cheap, but they de-value loads and then when you come to sell it, no-one wants to know and then you have to sell it cheap yourself, same knock on effect as now. Just my opinion.
......now officially dubless.

the certificate situation is a bit wierd ???

not required by the insurance company,
but it is a legal requirement to drive it on the road!
