The only dissapointing thing about the GTI...
« on: 28 August 2008, 22:13 »
Service intervals , my 2007 GTI now needs its 2nd service and it hasnt done 19000 miles yet, less than 9500 / service, now i know the intervals are 10k , but still for a car in this day and age its a bit pants, also I have had to put 2 lots of oil in during the last 9k.
I dont drive it like a tit, most of the time my 1 year old is in it with me.
Im sure I will forget about it once ive stumped up the £184 + £40 brake fluid change( for another 9 months anyway!).

good points, looks, kit, comfort, economy, handling, grip,...etc...etc
steel grey, 5 door , leather, parking sensors, IPod, 18" monza,MF wheel,  K&N filter , smoked rear lights and mirror indicators,,, no remap..... yet!!

Yuo dont have to get it serviced this soon but you do if you love it.
Get it done then go for a good drive. and you will feel good about it and realise how silly you were forgetting you love it.

Regular servicing perlongs the engine life and will only do it good if the cars a long term investment. I used to change all my cars oil over the years every 3000 miles along with its filter etc. Must admit, havent done it to the mk5's ive had!, too frightened to lift the bonnet!

Now if you had a CF bonnet, the gas strut would open it for you...

....Why should your driving style change because of who your passengers are?

It shouldn't make any difference whatsoever how old or young, relatives or not. Whether you are driving fast or slowly, drive safely and according to the conditions. You don't "drive it like a tit" when you are on your own do you?

....The Mk5 GTI is known to consume more oil in its first few thousand miles - Don't worry, it's normal and will reduce.

Changing oil and filter regularly will help your engine's longevity. I do mine every 10k miles regardless of VW schedule.

You drive 'em, you pay for 'em

I would never crib on servicing - makes sense to keep to the maintenance schedule for all sorts of reasons - mostly residuals and preventative maintenance - £££
