I've read somewhere that the cambelt should be changed at 60k miles, or after 4 years - which ever comes first. The car is a 53 plate and has done just shy of 39k miles. I've checked the cars service history and it doesn't appear to have had the belt replaced

Surely, the belt should've been changed during it's last service at 30k in February?!?!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just checked mine.
Caffyns Skoda at Tunbridge Wells did my car before i bought it  at 37715 miles. a 2002 TDI.
They only did the cam belt and tensioner tho.
The total on the bill for the work he had done was £455.72

It is 60k mate but most places I have spoken to say it should be done at 40k. My dad recently got a letter from Audi saying his TT should be done as its coming up to 40k. They quoted £850 he got it done at the TT shop in the end think it was about £400.
Golf SOLD. Replaced with a Yamaha Raptor 660 quad and loving it. This will be replaced in August with a Raptor 700. Sold the quad now got a Vectra GSI 2.5 V6 and its the nuts.

You would think so mate. The work they quoted for would have been about 2.5k the anti roll bar bushes had perished and they said the roll bar came as a complete kit that was about 500. There was damage to the exhaust from a speed hump which they said was £700 the discs and pads needed replacing that was £450 and £850 for the cambelt and he had all the work done plus the Miltek system and uprated anti roll bars and 3.2 rear diffuser and it came to £1900.

Shouldnt be to expensive to have the water pump done mate. Its not a difficult job ypu could always do it yourself with a haynes manual.
