just get a hid kit

No, don't.  HID kits are not legal and only someone spectacularly selfish who has a disregard for other road users would fit them.

They are not designed for the lenses in your headlights and are highly likely to dazzle oncoming drivers.

Have those suggesting them fitted a relay kit to their cars before fitting illegal headlights?
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

It's all a bit of a grey area, here the offical Dept for Transport details on HID kits - http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/drs/hidheadlamps

The Xenon blue tint bulbs do make the road look whiter which imo is better than yellow as you can see the road more clearly.

If a customer wants to convert his vehicle to Xenon HID he must purchase completely new Xenon HID headlamps.

Therefore if you buy the correct kit, it is not illegal.

Oh and if you keep reading you need either self-levelling suspension or self-levelling headlights.

And headlight washers.

And the projector lenses need to be E-marked.

Stilll on the right side of the law?

Just cos it's got an MOT doesn't mean it's legal.  It means it's passed an MOT test.

You could weld 2' long razor-sharp spikes to your bumper and it would pass an MOT as the spikes weren't sharp due to corrosion or damage.

An MOT doesn't mean it's legal under construction and use law.

think you would find it would fail if you had spikes sticking out the front or rear, sure theirs something in the mot about how far things hand out (including the exhaust)

my lenses are E marked, and if its passed the mot with them fitted then its legal and goood enough for me, never had no issues from the police or anyone, all good for me so i cant complain

Correct kit meaning all those extra bits to make it legal.

It speaks volumes that those attracted to them also seem to be attracted to Golf3 8V GTIs.

It's your eyes that need sorting out, not the lights.
