Filling up problem
« on: 27 August 2008, 18:12 »
This has happened several times now, at first I thought it was just something wrong with the petrol pump but its happened about 5 times now and different stations. I will go fill up and it will only let me stick about £1-£2 of petrol and then clicks as if I have reached the limit. Today I was in desperate need of petrol as I had to drive back home (London) from Oxford, had to fill up £20 worth £1 a time which was not good.

Anyone had this problem before or know what the possible cause could be?

That has happened to me in the past at certain petrol stations!

To overcome it I rotate the pump nossle clockwise and that usually stops the pump clicking off.
Without traction power is nothing!

I think it's your angle of dangle  i just pull it out a bit or push it in more to suit when this happens.
Also if premature ejaculation petrolisation continues think of margeret thatcher this should help.  :smug:

Never had this in the GTI but had it a few times in the S3 - did the same as above ie. rotate the nozzle and it seems to sort it

I get this all the time!!! I think there must be something inside the filling hole on the GTI that stops you being able fill it up easily!!

It's probably a fail safe mechanism to stop you putting in anything but V power...

just put the straight part of the nozzle through the flap, if you shove the cranked part down the tube it senses back pressure as the fuel splashes off the filler neck and cuts the feed
