Looking for a Golf GTI-T or TDI soon.

Hi,
I'm going to be looking for a Golf GTI Turbo or TDI soon, already had a 110 TDI. I've since had a Civic Type-R which I swapped last year for a Nissan X-Trail(expanding family). We're going to sell the X-Trail in a couple of months and go back to a Golf. So, to cut a long story short, I'm looking to spend around 8K on a Golf. So i thought I'd put the "Feelers" out on here. It must have A/C with no high miles, Any help/advice greatly appreciated

I'm afraid at ?8k you're not going to find even a 1.8T that is not high mileage!

You're probably right. Only just started to look and I suppose I'm going to have to pay a little more for a really nice one!

Have you considered a V5 Golf? You should be able to pick up one of these with low miles (<40k) for around ?8K.

If this is of interest, be aware the engine was uprated from 150bhp to 170 in 2001, also the standard spec has soggy 'off roader' suspension so one with the sports suspension is well worth it (similar spec to 1.8T).

How does the V5 compare to the Turbo performance wise etc. I didn't think the V5 was rated very highly. Thanks.
