You say final wire goes to the LED.  Surely the LED needs two wires? :)

It does, but its just an earth so it can be put to any suitable earthing point, not related to the circuit board  :smiley:

I imagine they're triggered whenever the courtesy light is on.

The earth can be taken from the door itself by attaching the wire behind one of the nuts in the door panel.
The courtesy light is also used as a constant 12v because the + wire is always 12v, its the -ve that's switched.

They're triggered by the courtesy light, but there's no reason why they couldn't be triggered by the interior light (which comes on when you press unlock on the fob).

well if they can be wired to the interior light than thats great - then when you unlock your car from a distance you get some extra light before you get to the car  :smiley:

i assume you just wire it into the power source for the interior light?
