hi i jacked the front of my car up to change the tyre  and when i took the wheel off i could move the sespetion up and down this dont seam right to me any idears what it could be i have a hole car for parts just need to know what it is thanks

if this is your problem then you either have has collapsed top mount (most likely) or the slotted nut is not done up enough to hold the shock altogether. I'd change the top mount first and whilst its off, checked the slotted nut is all the way down (you'll need spring compressors to do this) One other thing, if you change the top mounts, buy a pair of them, chances are if one has gone the other wont be far behind.

if you have lowered springs sometimes you can do the top nut all the way up without compressors, but for std springs you certainly do need compressors
