2005 GTi recall / TSB / Software upgrades
« on: 20 August 2008, 18:56 »
Car is nearing the end of 3yr VW warranty.
Due to low mileage its only had one service 18ths ago. It's got the AXX engine and DSG.
Was wondering what recalls, TSBs and software upgrades I should ask the dealer to perform before it's out of warranty.

Thanks

....A Warm Welcome to the forum, mrlapou

If you've got a good VW dealer he should book you in for a pre-MOT check and also give you a free MOT before your warranty ends.

Also he should check for any ECU updates etc as a matter of course.

Thanks for the wlecome..
I'll ask the dealer about free MOT and updates.
They did fix an air con problem about 12mths ago at which time some sort of ecu upgrade was performed.

....You should find the ECU update recorded on your paperwork and it was probably 24K6.

Spot on RedRobin, it was a 24K6 update.
Seem to remember the car did feel more responsive after the update...

....The 24K6 "wiped" the Revo remap in many cases. Revo work closely with VW and are VAG specialists - They often recieve VW's ECU updates before the dealers do and integrate their latest maps into the VW maps.

Call Revo 01327 301 901 - they are very helpful.

Yep, spoke to revo today...they reckon that once the trial remap ceased that the default map would have taken account of the most recent sw updates.  Lets face it 24K6 has been around a while, so theres a fair chance that my update was not lost in translation as it were.

Still would love the revo, however a bit pissed that JKM in Portsmouth are doing such a great deal as are AMD, however anyone north of the haggis and heather line have to pay full whack....

Revo say its nothing to do with them, the dealers are taking the hit for these promo's.  However Revo (carl) suggested that it may be worth my while going to Edition38!  err sorry I live in Glasgow...thats a round trip that would give Gordon Brown an almighty erection, and theres no way I am going to encourage that!!!!
