i was driving through a busy town yesterday, as i went over a hump back bridge, a learner driver bus came into my lane as the bridge is tight, as i braked to slow down(although i was doing an ok speed, he must have been speeding), i skidded down the bridge, swerved to miss cars on my offside, lost control and my rear end smacked into a land rover, i ploughed side on into a wall, hit a punto and then hit a lamp post.
the punto will just need 2 panels replacing but the land rover will need more, and the wall is pretty ill looking.
no one stopped so i have no witnesses, the bus didnt stop and i didnt get a very good description of it, and i have written my £5000 beautiful euro lupo off.

the police have been involved, and i have informed my insurance. my excess is £500 and it wasnt even my fault. yet the driver drove off.
will i be the one who gets hit by this, because its not actually fair as the police checked how the accident happened. and pretty much agreed with me. does anyone know much about the untraced drivers agreement or the insurance bureau that helps with this kinda thing
helppp!!
thanks! :-)

one hell of a distressed 19 year old girl here

did anyone actually hit you?

or did you jsut swerve? if you swerrved then it seems you have caused the accident, unless i am mistaken. Best bet is to ring your insurance company and explain what has happened and they'll tell you whether you are at fault or not i guess, but im sorry to say it seems like you are to blame as the vehicle didnt hit you, i hoe you don't get into trouble for driving without due care and attention!

if the police are involved it seems thye will be able to trace the bus that ws travelling down that road at X time and if it was a learner there will be witnesses that will be able to say whether he was at fault or not - e.g the instructor. Sorry its not looking positive from my side!

hope you get sorted one way or another!! :)

well lets hope i dont get done for that,
i was driving fine, its because the bus has gone into my lane, if having a head on collision was the end up of it.
im devastated cos my car was my pride and joy
ive got terrible whiplash and at the moment i'm in bed with a neck brace on,
i've collapsed twice since the accident
so really i can understand if i was doin 80 and wrapped my car round a tree,
i think i'm going to write into the local paper of that town to appeal for witnesses

if i was due to the neglegence of other drivers that it happened then they should have stopped when the accident happened, and if it was a learner bus driver they are easy to identify.

but it does appear like it would stand to be your fault, as you did hit the other vehicles and iirc if you hit someone then you are to blame regardless of what they did, e.g people who pull out without looking can sometimes claim off the other person who hit them... even though they pulled out stupidly..

this is not all cases, and to be honest it is up to the insurance company what they think when given all of the facts.
Hope you recover soon.

yeah but pulling out when you can see a car, is a bit silly
trying to swerve to save a head on collision with a massive bus isnt really that silly
the roads were wet and slimy
so i think its the weather conditions too
there was a load of immigrants on their way for job interviews injured down the road from me on the way to alton towers
and there were 2 accidents on my way to the hospital

these weather conditions just arnt good

ive had 3 phone calls so far gathering more information about the accident
and i hope a witness comes forward. keep your fingers crossed forr mee

I would put an advert in the local paper asking if anyone see the accident. Then I would go to the local bus garage and Kick em in the bollo#x. Buses are fitted with cameras these days so it would have proberly been caught on there. Have words with em and say you aint happy. Always helps if you take a couple of big fellas with ya. Hope you get it sorted.

have youy contacted a lawyer??? as said if you swerved and lost control, then it is your fault, you should always be able to stop in the distance you can see, and it sounds like you did quite a lot of damage, iv been convicted for driving without due care and attention twice and on both occasions the accident wasnt my fault but i was still charged, just as long as they dont try to do you for dangerous driving as it was a built up area and you went through a wall and hit some parked cars, they cant do you for speeding if they dont have any evidence, dont suppose there is any cctv cameras neer where you crashed?????? always a good bet if there is even if they didnt catch the crasht hey might have got the number of the bus, anyway unlucky hope your neck get better

I was involved in an RTA not too long ago (27.05.08) and had my car written off (see sig.). The car that hit me did so in avoiding a car coming the other way head on (or that was his story anyway!) and he was held responsible for the accident - despite denying responsibility for 8 weeks !!!

I appreciate that you were avoiding an accident by the sounds of things, but you cannot create an accident by avoiding one and not be held responsible unfortunately. I hope you get it all sorted soon.
