MFD2 / TMC
« on: 18 August 2008, 14:11 »
I have used the search function and Google but have not found a definitive answer.

I have got MFD2 Sat nav and V4 of the VW map DVD. Can anyone confirm if TMC works with this version or not as I can't get this to. All it ever says is TMC seek so I guess it doesn't. I have Classic FM shown on the Radio list as well and TMC ticked on the second tuner but doesn't make a difference.

Bit pi55ed off as I have only had the car 1 week but thought at least the Sat Nav would be FULLY operational. Bit gutted if I have to pay £140 or whatever for a new map already.

I don't believe VW sorted out the TMC licensing for the UK on their branded disc's, the only version I know which does have the TMC codes is this one - http://navigation.teleatlas.com/en/shop/blaupunkt-travelpilot-ex/europe-2008-blaupunkt-travelpilot-ex-pr6379.html

TMC will work in Europe but not necessarily in the UK due to licensing issues. TT has posted on this subject before in detail.

TMC will work but you need the TMC codes on the CD - there are 2 versions of the CD.

I got mine from here - http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/nav_cdrom2.asp, but I really need a new one as I think mine is 2006/7 which is now old but I cant be arsed to spend the money to update it.

e.g.  on a trip back, mao routed (just for TMC purposes) and it tells me "traffic disruption ahead" or "traffic disruption on route"

Edit:  looks like the site only lists the TMC version now.
