Bonnet lever problem
« on: 17 August 2008, 18:42 »
Hello

Unfortunately some idiot smashed into my parked up golf :(

Apart from the fact that the left hand side of the bonnet looks like someone has taken a huge chunk out of it, the lever for the bonnet won't work! I need to get in to check the damage!! How can i do this??? Any help appreciated!

Thanks

If it won't pop up on it's own you're definitely going to have to force it open.

Did the other person stop?

Yes, she did however have to be cut out of her car! She tried to under cut a turning van, bounced off it and smashed into my car!

can you get the grill off?

its just clipped in - once that's off you should be able to get your fingers in to release the bonnet catch

if it's going through insurance leave it alone in case they get funny about it when the inspector comes out

I'm going to, was just hoping that there may have been a 'back up' method of opening it!! Doesn't look good in general though, may end up in the scrap heap me thinks.....real pain in the ass!
