Lowering....
« on: 17 August 2008, 17:34 »
another bit of advice needed guys...i am thinking of getting my Golf lowered but of course i want to spend as little as possible but dont want to harm my car in the process so i have heard springs are cheap but they will be bad for the shocks right? surely?
so what is the next best thing and how much roughly or are springs ok?

springs will wear out your dampers quickly. Will be ok for a while though.

You can get spring + shock combos from about £200 but they're fixed lowering.

You can get adjustable coilovers from ebay for about £179 and you can change them to how low or high you want!

decent springs can be had for £120 - look on Ebay for Eibach

i've just picked up a 2nd hand set which will hopefully be on the car next weekend :afro:

Ivor on here has lowered with just springs and i believe he's still on the original dampers

i always previously thought you'd need to upgrade both but i'm going to see how i get on with just the springs - hopefully get away with it and save myself a bit of cash
